🧹Is there room on the broom for a — like me?
❤️It is not often that that I find a rhyming story that is also clever, kind, and inclusive. And even less common that the story could be considered a Halloween story. If you’re not already a Julia Donaldson fan, you will be after reading Room on the Broom.
Not only does Julia Donaldson combine clever rhymes with memorable repetition that is so important for developing brains🧠 and early readers, but she also gently teaches a much needed life lesson that can be a part of your parenting toolbox. 🧰 That as we include others who are different than ourselves we are blessed to create something even better- together.
Bow or hat, green or brown. We all have different ways to bless each other. Our world needs more who will answer: “Yes! There is a room on my broom for a—like you!”
When our children were preschool and early elementary age this story combined with the whimsical illustrations by Axel Sheffler, brought many priceless giggles and curious questions as we read it and many others together.
Now these story-time quality-time memories are even more priceless as most of our children have grown up and flown the nest…
“And whoosh! they were gone”! ☺️
They won’t be small forever. This happy story time, connecting time with your children can be the best time together –on your loving lap🥰 SLR
➕Want to find more of our Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler faves? Our son still speaks of them fondly 🙂
